Lacquered Bamboo Vase
Mold to form a timeless classic shaped vase.
This bamboo base material is harvested between November to February. In March, the bamboo is steamed using a special kiln to remove its oil, then, hung dry in the sun for over a month.
Moso bamboo is used to carve this vase.
By the process called “carbonization” the bamboo is steamed in a high pressure kiln to prevent warping, and to repel insects. Artisans use tools such as belt sanders or routers to hand shape the thickness or curves of the bamboo by using their feel of their hands
Designed to complement contemporary spaces while preserving the traditional techniques. The Bamboo of each vase is individually handmade, maintaining the value and beauty of the container in its utmost simplicity, so that the flowers displayed within can shine.
